Alexandra Solovieva

Alexandra Solovieva started her assignment as Deputy Country Director (Programmes) at UNDP India in April 2011. In this capacity, she oversees UNDP programmes in five core areas: poverty reduction, democratic governance, energy and environment, disaster risk reduction, and HIV and development.Alexandra Solovieva has been with UNDP for 17 years and worked in a variety of Headquarters and field-based positions. Before going to India she covered UNDP programmes in Cambodia, Mongolia and Viet Nam as Programme Specialist in the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific. She also focused on results-based management, private sector development, and UN reform issues.

Previously she served as Management Specialist in UNDP central Bureau of Management. Before 2004, Alexandra was the Head of the Resident Coordinator's office in the Lao PDR supporting the work of 16 UN agencies, funds and programmes on the UN Development Assistance Framework, MDG monitoring, joint programming and communications. From 1996 to 1999, Alexandra managed small-grant programmes and worked in the areas of governance, environmental management, and partnerships with CSOs. Alexandra is from Moscow, Russia and has a Master's Degree in Oriental Studies from Moscow State University, Institute of Asian and African Studies.
